HTC Magic???!!!!!!!!?
I’m thinking about buying HTC Magic so should I buy It? and can I download any application although i’m not from the USA?
and i’m planning on having it for a few years….
So What Should I Do?!!!!
If you can get the HTC Hero, get that since it’s the same hardware inside, but with a better 5MP camera, standard headphone jack and teflon coating.
If you can’t, then decide if you should wait for the Hero to become available in your country or pick up the Magic now.
I personally have the magic and love it.
There’s tons that you can do with it. Google doesn’t restrict the app store as much as other companies, so there are some really cool apps available.
You can also flash the ROM so that it has the same functionality as newer android devices (Hero is the only newer at the moment).
See xda-developers.com for more info about that.
Flashing the ROM should keep you happy with the device a bit longer since you won’t feel like you’re getting left behind with new android phone releases.
The battery life and call quality are good. Typing takes some getting used to.
Once you have “rooted” your phone — again see the link above for info on that — you will be able to use something called the market enabler to give you access to american apps if that’s what you’re looking for.
No matter what phone you buy now, I’m almost positive that you will not be happy with it in 2 years. Smart phones are improving so rapidly and there will likely be better phones out a few months from now.
I wrote this with the assumption that you have already ruled out a Palm Pre and Apple iPhone – both great devices as well.
